I have sent 12 sea themed pictures to sunny Spain to represent Green Island Studios and the UK in this gathering of 8 surf artists from around the globe. Flying Longboarder is on scenic Oyambre Beach in Comillas (Cantabria, Spain) home to a fine selection of surfboards, surf fashion, & stunning surf photography books, and not forgetting the awesome art you'll find on the walls by yours truly :)

My work will be exhibited alongside some very interesting artists such as Califonia's crazy cartoonist and friend of the stars, Gomez Bueno, and the talented French painter DL, and of course Hector Barrero, whose gorgeous photo appears in the flyer at the top of this post.

Go Getty-er....

Follow My Footsteps by Jo Bradford

I received an invitation from Getty Images this morning to join them as an image contributor.
They have already pre-selected a range of my work, spanning the past decade of my career, that they would like to add to their collection. Some of it is just laying about the place doing nothing to earn it's keep, so I have decided to go ahead and let the folks at Getty look after them for me for now.
Both Starfish and Follow My Footsteps are among those I have decided to hand over to Getty to market for me.

On being Golden

..........
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Gaudi Dreams

...
A long time ago, when I was starting out, a successful and well established artist I met at my first group exhibition, told me that one of the things that no-one told her when she started out is that you don't always (if ever) get to go with your work when it goes on show in wonderful places around the globe. At the time I thought she was simply lucky to have people in far flung places wanting to show her work. But years later, I can see how disappointing that reality actually is.
...
I have 12 pieces of work ready to send to Spain this week, as my work will be in a show in Comillas, at the Flying Longboarder Gallery from the 20th August. I was really hoping to be there for the opening night myself, but sadly the time is near now and I just can't make it :(
...
What a shame too, as this area of Northern Spain looks stunning... Comillas is lucky enough to boast a building by Gaudi to rub it in even more!!
And nearby San Vincente De La Barquera looks stunning too, look....
Oh well, never mind... if only my art could take photos of itself at the event (with a glass of bubbly and perhaps a canape) and send them back to me so I can be part of the fun by proxy..... {sigh}

birthday bonanza

Happy Birthday to me ...
I had such a great birthday last Friday, I am so honoured to have so many sweet and thoughful people in my life, who played their part in making it such a special week :)

I was spoilt rotten all week, {thanks Hubby, for breakfast in bed with glorious happy birthday tunes by The Beatles and Stevie Wonder, wonderfully thoughtful gifts, bubble baths strewn with flower petals and fancy restaurants, amongst other things xx}.

We had several celebratory meals and gatherings, and saw lots of friends and family, I really am a happy lucky girl!!
